Dr. Lawler has a real passion for helping people with obstructive sleep disorders improve the quality and length of their lives. He is the only dentist in southern Indiana board certified by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He has earned more than 400 hours of post-graduate education in the study of sleep-related breathing disorders and has trained with some of the world's leading authorities on the dental management of these disorders.
Dr. Lawler is also a certified Oral Systemic Balance practitioner and is a part of a core group of students working with Dr. Farrand Robson, the developer of Oral Systemic Balance. Dr. Robson's work is groundbreaking and has revealed the most basic physiologic system in the body and the oral origin of a variety of often debilitating symptoms as well as the neuromuscular mechanisms that maintain the oral system. The therapeutic system Dr. Robson developed is based on these discoveries and is designed to be broadly used by trained practitioners.
Dr. Lawler is committed to help raise awareness about the consequences of untreated sleep-related breathing disorders within both the public and the medical community. He is equally committed to raising the awareness of the importance of Dr. Robson's work to both the medical and lay communities. He frequently lectures to various dental organizations and gives public lectures on the recognition and treatment of these disorders at Bloomington Hospital, where he is on staff and involved in research. Dr. Lawler serves on the board of directors of the Indiana Society of Sleep Professionals as medical advisor.
